  • Meijer kicks off eighth Simply Give campaign

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer is continuing its pantry donation program by kicking off a springtime campaign.

    The Midwest retailer is once again teaming up with its customers and team members in implementing its Simply Give program to help restock the shelves of nearly 200 local food pantries in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.

    This marks Meijer's eighth Simply Give effort, which began on March 20 and will continue through May 14.

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Midwest retailer announced it would invest $75 million in a major remodel project that would benefit stores in two states.

    Meijer said 10 stores in Michigan and Ohio would benefit from the initiative. The retailer projected that the remodeling program would be completed by the end of the year.

    NEW YORK — A weight-loss supplement has gained retail distribution in Weis Markets.

    Bainbridge & Knight said its Lichi superfruit diet supplement, which is derived from 100% pure lychee berries and contains 17 active natural ingredients, will be available at Weis this month. The supermarket retailer operates stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey and West Virginia.

  • Meijer brings grocery to customers' doorsteps

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Looking to foray into online sales, Meijer is launching a new grocery service for its customers.

    MeijerDoorstepGrocer.com will offer customers thousands of grocery and drug store items, many of them available in single-pack or smaller sizes. Meijer initially will offer about 5,000 items on its website with no minimum order requirement for delivery, the company said. For a limited time, customers will have the opportunity to save on orders that exceed $100. Shipping costs start at $7.95.

  • Meijer donates semi-tractors to support Midwest communities

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer last week announced its donation of 35 reconditioned semi-tractors to local food banks, academic organizations and law enforcement throughout the Midwest.

    The donation is part of the chain's ongoing commitment to support the communities it serves, the company said.
