Following a successful opening at its Carlyle, Va., location, Wegmans Food Markets is set to open its first location in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, July 13 at 9 a.m.
Wegmans Wisconsin Ave., is located in Northwest Washington, D.C., at City Ridge.
Hiring for the new store is ongoing and all applicants are encouraged to apply here.
As recruitment is wrapping up for the Wisconsin Avenue location, Wegmans is now seeking 150 full-time employees to staff its new 85,000-sq.-ft. store in Reston. Located at the intersection of Reston Parkway and Sunrise Valley Drive, the store is scheduled to open in early 2023.
Interested applicants are invited to apply online here or call (703) 421-2466 for more information.
Available full-time positions include everything from entry-level management and customer service to overnight grocery and culinary roles such as chefs, prep cooks and dishwashers. The Reston store will employ more than 400 people, the majority of whom will be hired locally. Applications are not accepted at the store construction site, nor will interviews be conducted there. Hiring for part-time positions will begin at a later date, the company said.
“We bring new employees on board to begin training quickly after they’re hired,” said store manager Katie Sullivan. “Our commitment to in-depth training is the main reason we begin the hiring process so early. These jobs provide competitive pay with industry-leading benefits, flexible scheduling and, most importantly, a great place to work.”
Wegmans Reston will be part of the Halley Rise development, which includes commercial, residential and retail facilities. The new store will include a Market Café, coffee shop and The Burger Bar. The site, which will have parking below and residential units above, is accessible by the Reston Town Center Metro station.
Wegmans noted that it has a long-standing reputation as an exceptional employer. For 25 consecutive years, it has ranked high on Fortune magazine’s list of “The 100 Best Companies to Work For,” placing third in 2022. Employees cite an extensive array of benefits as the reason they chose Wegmans, including competitive pay and benefits packages, premium pay on Sundays and holidays, tuition assistance through the company’s employee scholarship program, and flexible scheduling, the company said.
