Zydus Cadila’s generic Xeljanz gets tentative approval

Zydus Cadila has received tentative approval from the Food and Drug Administration for its generic Xeljanz (tofacitinib tablets, 5 mg).

Tofacitinib is used alone or with other medications, including methotrexate, to treat moderate to severe forms of rheumatoid arthritis.

The product helps to decrease pain, tenderness and swelling in the joints.

The company said the generic would be manufactured at the group’s formulations manufacturing facility at Moraiya, Ahmedabad.
