Abbott awards mom $135,000 from Similac

9/13/2007

COLUMBUS, Ohio Abbott Nutrition on Thursday awarded Amy Kaminski, a mom from Tucson, Ariz., the grand prize of $135,000 in the second annual "Similac Mom's Payday" contest.

Kaminski’s entry was chosen from more than 30,000 photo essays. "Undoubtedly there are few callings in life that are as admirable, or as challenging, as parenthood," stated Matt Harris, division vice president of U.S. pediatric nutrition brands, Abbott Nutrition.  "With the Similac Mom's Payday contest, we are proud to give back to moms who give so much every day."

According to a recent survey by Salary.com, a typical mom like Kaminski should earn $135,000 per year based on her daily activities—a $5,000 raise over last year's figure.  The Similac Mom's $135K Payday contest invited moms and moms-to-be to submit a photo showing their favorite "mom job," along with a brief caption.

Kaminski’s winning caption read: “All in a day's work: Accountant, activities director, chef, chauffer, counselor, delivery service, dispatcher, emergency responder, financial planner, judge, life coach, maid, music instructor, nurse, personal shopper, photographer, record keeper, rent-a-techie, rodeo clown, secretary, set designer, teacher, travel agent; whatever you call it, this Mom's favorite job is juggling!”

In addition to the grand prize winner, 10 first-prize winners were chosen to receive a week's salary, worth $3,000, and 20 second-prize winners were selected to receive a case of Similac infant formula each.
