Stop & Shop event promotes healthy living

QUINCY, Mass. — An event sponsored earlier this week by supermarket chain Stop & Shop provided information to kids designed to encourage them to live healthier lifestyles.

The Healthy Kids Summit, which took place Monday at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., attracted more than 300 residents, customers, families and children and featured guidance from community and health experts, such as New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung and leaders from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the YMCA.

"Stop & Shop aims to inspire and motivate families to make healthier food choices, and as a leading grocery chain, we are in a unique position to help customers do that as they shop our stores," said spokeswoman for Stop & Shop New England Division Suzi Robinson.

As part of the event, Chung took part in a panel discussion with the president of the local YMCA, a school nutrition expert for the state health department and a Stop & Shop in-store nutritionist. The discussion included a short trivia game that challenged audience members to test their listening skills and demonstrate their knowledge on nutrition, exercise and a balanced lifestyle.
