Dollar General kicks off hiring spree

Dollar General is inviting job seekers to National Interview Day.

Dollar General is in a hiring mode. The retailer is inviting candidates interested in learning how they can grow their career with the company to participate in a nationwide interview day.

On June 22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time, DG stores and distribution centers will be offering on-site interviews to enhance DG’s ability to serve customers and communities. Additionally, DG Private Fleet will be offering interview days in select markets.

“At Dollar General, we celebrate drive and reward initiative, providing several paths to grow your education and career with the company,” said Kathy Reardon, Dollar General’s executive vice president and chief people officer. “As a mature retailer in growth mode, including our continued expansion of our newest store concept, pOpshelf, and our recently announced expansion into Mexico, we look forward to sharing with interested applicants details about the opportunities at DG and how they can join a team whose collective mission is serving others.”

In addition to the June 22 nationwide store and distribution center interview day, some distribution centers are interviewing on additional days throughout the month while DG Private Fleet is also hosting driver hiring events.

Distribution Center Dates:

  • Every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Janesville, Wis.;
  • Every Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., in Bowling Green, Ky.;
  • Every Wednesday in San Antonio; and
  • June 22, 25, 29 and July 2 in Amsterdam, N.Y.

Private Fleet Dates:

  • June 21 in Longview, Texas and Clayton, N.C.;
  • June 23 in Alachua, Fla.;
  • June 24 in Jackson, Ga.;
  • July 20 in Bessemer, Ala.; and
  • July 21 in Montgomery, Ala.

The hiring events, coupled with an online campaign, strive to help interested job seekers discover the many career opportunities and benefits at Dollar General.

DG Fleet drivers can earn a competitive mileage-based pay, unload pay and annual bonus opportunities. Additionally, Dollar General allows drivers to bring one vaccinated dog or cat of eligible breeds as a “co-pilot” on the road. Dollar General is a GI Bill-certified employer with an internal, company-paid Class A CDL training program available for warehouse and store employees, the company said. Opportunities to support retail stores include roles as part-time sales associates, part-time and full-time lead sales associates, assistant managers, store managers, district managers, and regional directors. With more than 75% of store leadership roles being placed internally, Dollar General offers opportunities for advancement, including promotion of part-time sales associate to lead sales associate generally within six months, and to assistant store manager within 18 months of hire. Dollar General’s 18,000 stores in 47 states provide career opportunities throughout rural, suburban and metropolitan communities across the country, the company said. 

The company offers eligible employees 401(k) savings and retirement plans and competitive health and wellness benefits, including day-one telemedicine eligibility with no co-pay.
