Buzzagogo won the Drug Store News Buyers’ Choice Award for its Pediatric Cold Bee Gone for Kids during ECRM’s Cough, Cold, Preventative & Allergy session held earlier this month. ManukaGuard was a finalist for its Cough & Throat Syrup.

The products were selected from dozens of entries submitted by participating suppliers. Buyers were able to evaluate each entry and cast their votes based on product packaging and innovation via the Drug Store News-branded Buyers Choice Awards section of the ECRM Connect platform.

“Consumers are increasingly aware of the ingredients they put on and into their bodies, and many are looking for natural solutions to today’s common ailments,” Craig Chmielowicz, senior vice president of health and beauty care for ECRM said. “The two Buyers’ Choice Award winners each tap into the healing powers of honey to help prevent and treat the symptoms of colds. Congratulations to both winners.”

Buzzagogo, based out of Nottingham, New Hampshire, was founded by Joyce Dales in 2011 in order to protect her medically fragile family members.

Its first product, Cold Bee Gone, a homeopathic remedy embedded in super honeys, was originally sold regionally in small general stores, and has since expanded its product line to include Allergy Bee Gone and has grown to over 12,000 points of distribution.

Cold Bee Gone for Kids is a homeopathic remedy embedded in a proprietary, super honey blend that is swabbed in the nose to relieve symptoms, fight germs, and strengthen the nasal biome. According to the company, the nose is the first line of defense against germs, and it’s meant to be full of moisture and beneficial bacteria.

Antibiotics or products containing chemicals, alcohol or excessive saline can compromise this delicate biome. If that happens, the nose can’t do its job of trapping and preventing germs from colonizing. The more germs colonize, the sicker a person may get and the more infectious they can become. Cold Bee Gone was developed not only to fight germs and relieves symptoms, but also enhance what Dayles calls, the “Booger Biome.”

manuka honey

ManukaGuard’s Co-Founders, Gavin Gear and Brett Edmonds launched the company with the goal of bringing natural alternatives to conventional medicines.

Its first two products – a cough and throat syrup and a heartburn, acid indigestion liquid – use medical-grade manuka honey for its myriad healing benefits, and based on their success the company later followed up with the launch of its Sinus Nasal Spray.

ManukaGuard’s Cough & Throat Syrup uses all-natural drug free ingredients combined with the medical grade manuka honey to stop coughs and help children suffering from strep throat. Medical grade manuka honey supports a strong immune system, reduces irritation in the throat and soothes coughs associated with hoarseness, dry throat, and environmental contaminants.
