The American Pharmacists Association Foundation today announced the 2021-2022 recipients of the Incentive Grants for Practitioner Innovation in Pharmaceutical Care.

A total of 32 pharmacists and student pharmacists were selected to receive the $1,000 Incentive Grants that annually provide seed funds to initiate or sustain innovative community-based projects that advance pharmacist-delivered patient care services.

The longest-running APhA Foundation program, the Incentive Grants for Practitioner Innovation in Pharmaceutical Care grant initiative was established in 1994. To date, funding for more than 680 Incentive Grant projects has been awarded for pharmacists to implement new ways to improve the health outcomes for thousands of patients in communities across the country.

“Thanks to the support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Community Pharmacy Foundation, and APhA Foundation contributors, these innovative projects are making a difference,” said APhA Foundation executive director, Mitchel Rothholz. “The recipients are implementing studies that address vaccine confidence and delivery, health equity, patient care needs and advance the public health needs of the communities served.”

This year, longtime Incentive Grant partner, the Community Pharmacy Foundation, is providing an additional level of financial support. The extra investment is to initiate a Learning Collaborative to assist the recipients of the 28 grants supported with CPF funds.  Throughout the duration of the grant, recipients will attend virtual sessions and hear from experienced and innovative pharmacists on topics related to conducting research within the community setting.
