American Flatbread takes plant-based route with Meatless Evolution

American Flatbread is jumping into the plant-based trend by launching a new collection of flash-frozen pizzas — Meatless Evolution.

Consisting of vegetarian and vegan options, the pizza is made from hand-stretched organic wheat dough, as well as fresh and whole ingredients from farmers, the Pittsfield, N.H.-based company said.

“We are so excited to be the first brand on the market to offer plant-based pizza products with both traditional and nondairy cheese options. We understand our consumers want choices, which is why we spent over a year developing the perfect taste and texture profile for pizza-lovers who want a meatless alternative of their favorite toppings,” said Brad Sterl, president and founder of American Flatbread. “Our team takes extreme pride in innovating our product lineup to meet the evolving needs of our consumers.”

The lineup includes:

  • Vegan Pepperoni features plant-based pepperoni, tomato sauce, dairy-free mozzarella and fresh herbs;
  • Vegan Meat Lovers contains plant-based pepperoni and sausage crumbles, tomato sauce, dairy-free mozzarella style shreds, and fresh herbs;
  • Plant-Based Pepperoni has plant-based pepperoni, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, asiago cheese, parmesan chesse and fresh herbs; and
  • Plant-Based Supreme features plant-based pepperoni, broccoli, mushrooms, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, asiago cheese, feta cheese and fresh herbs.

Each 10-in. pizza contains three servings per container, retail for $8.99 each, and can be found at select Harris Teeter locations, as well as online.
