Teva launches Lipitor generic

NORTH WALES, Pa. — Teva Pharmaceuticals the introduced Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets, which is AB rated and bioequivalent to Lipitor (atorvastatin calcium) Tablets.

Teva Generics is a division of Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Israeli-based Teva Pharmaceutical Industries.

Lipitor, manufactured by Pfizer, is intended to lower cholesterol in the blood. According to Pfizer, Lipitor lowers the LDL-C ("bad” cholesterol) and triglycerides in the blood and can raise HDL-C ("good" cholesterol) as well. It is for adults and children over the age of 10 whose cholesterol does not come down enough with exercise and a low-fat diet alone.
