Amplicare expands tech offerings for pharmacists

Pharmacy technology company Amplicare is expanding its offerings with the addition of two new benefits to its suite of solutions.

Amplicare's platform now includes a capability that identifies pharmacy patients at high risk of experiencing an opioid overdose in their household. The platform provides tools to help pharmacists educate patients about Naloxone and its availability over-the-counter without a prescription.

Amplicare concurrently rolled out a similar capability to help pharmacists increase the rate of vaccinations, coinciding with the current flu season. These updates provide pharmacists the opportunity to act on health interventions within their workflows, easily monitor progress, and manage the life cycle of these interventions, the company said.

"Community pharmacies are uniquely positioned in our healthcare system as the most accessible healthcare providers for patients, and they stand at the front lines of the fight against health crises," Amplicare CEO Matt Johnson said. "As the role of pharmacists moves beyond dispensing prescriptions, our focus is to help them tap into the growing number of opportunities that exist in the clinical and business side of healthcare. These new benefits make it easier for them to mobilize vaccinations across their patient base and significantly reduce the life-threatening effects of opioid overdoses."
