Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard protein takes on grab-and-go format

Optimum Nutrition is debuting a grab-and-go version of its popular Gold Standard whey protein powder.

The Gold Standard Protein Shake, which comes in chocolate and vanilla flavors, is formulated with 24 g of protein per serving and has a blend of such vitamins and minerals as vitamins A, C, D and E, zinc and calcium, the Downers Grove, Ill.-based company said.

“It’s no surprise with Americans back on-the-go they are looking for high-quality protein solutions to fuel their nonstop pace – whether that's in the gym, on the court, or back to class or the office,” said Alan Brooks, brand director at Optimum Nutrition. “With the launch of Gold Standard Protein Shake we aim to deliver a convenient ready-to-drink format that offers the gold standard experience our consumers expect from the leading sports protein brand.”

Containing 1 g of sugar, the vanilla flavor has 130 calories per serving and chocolate boasts 140 calories per serving, the company said.

Available in a 4-count pack that retails for $8.48 and 12-count packs for $24.99, Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Protein Shake can be found online and in-store at Walmart locations nationwide.
