Walgreens, DSN and Mack Elevation summit tackles retail’s future

More than 200 retailers, suppliers and distributors heard a number of speakers discuss the future of retailing at the Omnichannel and Digital Merchandising Summit in Chicago on May 21.
The one-day event, sponsored by Walgreens, Drug Store News and Mack Elevation, allowed for attendees to hear what may be in store for the retail arena over the next few years.
Among the speakers at the summit, held at the JW Marriott in downtown Chicago, was Walgreens’ senior vice president and chief merchandising officer Joe Hartsig, who gave the opening remarks and later talked about the next steps needed to stay ahead of the curve. He also participated in a session on digital commerce and merchandising. More than 40 Walgreens executives attended the event.
Attendees also heard from John Phillips, the senior vice president customer supply chain and GTM for Pepsi, and Tom Bianculli, chief technology officer for Zebra Technologies. Dan Mack, managing director of Mack Elevation, gave opening remarks and closed the summit down with a closing statement.
“We are honored to once again team up with Walgreens and Mack Elevation to discuss the future of retailing and what steps can be taken to put retailers in the best position to succeed,” said Eric Savitch, the publisher of Drug Store News. “I think the Walgreens officials in attendance took a lot away from this event and will put it to good use back at headquarters.”
