Sun Pharma launches generic Gleevec

MUMBAI, India — Sun Pharma announced Tuesday that it was launching its generic of Gleevec (imatinib mesylate) tablets. The drug is a kinase inhibitor that the FDA has approved to treat adults with chronic myeloid leukemia with Philadelphia chromosomes, as well as several other cancers. 

 

The company, alongside the launch of the drug, is offering a savings program for patients, which it said would reduce co-payments to $10 for the drug. Additionally, qualifying patients could receive the drug at no cost through the company’s Patient Assistance Program.
