DSN names Eder associate publisher

8/2/2016

Drug Store News has named Rob Eder associate publisher effective Aug. 2, the company announced Tuesday.

Eder, who will retain his title as editor in chief, will continue to lead content development for DSN print and electronic media, and will take an advanced role in live events, trade relations and new business development.

“Rob’s deep knowledge of chain pharmacy retailers, the vendor community and the trends effecting their business, position him well to be a resource to both, and to help develop both existing and new business platforms at DSN,” said John Kenlon, president and retail group publisher for DSN parent company Lebhar Friedman.

“I am excited to have Rob play a more prominent role in the growth of the DSN brands,” added DSN publisher Eric Savitch. “He has been a leader both internally and externally.”

Eder began his career at Drug Store News in March 1997 as senior editor, and was promoted to managing editor in 2002, executive editor in 2004, editor in chief in 2006, and in 2012 was named editorial director of the Lebhar-Friedman retail group publications.

During his career at DSN, Eder led the development of the publication’s online news platform, launched DSN’s first daily and weekly e-newsletters in 2002, created Retail Clinician magazine in 2004, and helped launch the Retail Clinician Education Congress in 2006 and DSN Specialty Pharmacy magazine in 2007. His regular column in DSN has won numerous awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors.

Before joining DSN, Eder served as editor in chief for Auto Laundry News, a monthly B2B publication covering the car washing, detailing and auto aftermarket industries. Prior to that he covered politics and public policy for Empire State Report magazine.

Eder — a life-long New Yorker, who resides in Manhattan with his wife Laura Pesin Eder and their bulldog “Spanky” — holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Boston University, master’s degree in magazine journalism from New York University and is a very proud alumnus of New York City’s Xavier High School.
