Changes are coming to Mean Green’s line of specialty cleaning products.

RPM International announced that its Rust-Olem group has acquired the cleaning products brand, and the exclusive North American licensing for Roto-Rooter’s brand of drain care products from Cincinnati-based CR Brands.

Mean Green creates heavy-duty cleaning products that tackle mold, mildew, bacteria and grease among other uses. Roto-Rooter contains a portfolio of products for drain care, such as a hair clog remover, gel clog remover, build-up remover and septic tank treatment.

“Rust-Oleum has made a concentrated effort to build and grow its platform of cleaners, which initially began with the Jomax brand and has since expanded to include the well-recognized brands of Krud-Kutter, Whink and Moldex. Mean Green and Roto Rooter products are excellent strategic fits that add more dimension to the growing portfolio,” Frank C. Sullivan, RPM chairman and CEO, said. “Utilizing Rust-Oleum’s sales and distribution network will significantly increase the reach of these leading products. At the same time, we expect to leverage their connections to achieve greater penetration of Rust-Oleum’s brands in grocery and other retail channels.”

Both brands can be found in such retailers as Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart and Menards among others. The lines will be integrated into Rust-Oleum’s current portfolio of brands, the company said.
