M&M's brand to deliver an action-packed showcase during the Oscars

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — M&M's Chocolate Candies will make a special appearance during the 2015 Academy Awards, which will be broadcast on ABC on Sunday, Feb. 22.
The brand will bring to television viewers across the nation a spoof of action movie trailers. The 30-second ad will feature all six M&M's Brand "spokescandies," putting a unique twist on classic action-movie scenes.
A similar version of this creative appeared in cinemas throughout 2014. That version served as a PSA of sorts, asking the audience to silence their mobile devices during the movie. Both the television commercial and the cinema PSA were created by BBDO New York.
Actor JK Simmons, whose performance in "Whiplash" helped him nab a spot on this year's list of nominees, is also the voice of the Yellow M&M's spokescandy. In celebration of his Academy Award nomination, the brand created a mosaic of the actor made from M&M's candies. Simmons and M&M's have worked together for close to 20 years.
