Usher heads to the French Riviera for his new fragrance commercial

NEW YORK Recording artist Usher traveled to the French Riviera to film the new commercial for his latest fragrance, Elizabeth Arden announced on Tuesday.

The fragrance, Usher VIP, is currently available nationwide and is designed to reflect a person who is constantly striving to be the best. It’s having the presence and the confidence to make an impact, and ultimately to unify and defy the odds to lead, the manufacturer stated.

Filmmaker Pierre Morel directed to television spot showing Usher and his female companion being chased by paparazzi through the streets of Monte Carlo.

“With Usher’s recent accomplishments over the past few years, he wanted to create a new refined fragrance that would represent new ways for him to express himself to his fans,” stated Art Spiro, EVP Liz Claiborne brands at Elizabeth Arden. “Through Usher VIP, Usher has captured the essence of his self-assurance and charisma and utilized it to create a fresh and masculine scent to allow all to be a VIP.”

The debut of Usher VIP comes in anticipation of the release of his new album due out in early 2010.

Every Man Jack develops new collection

NEW YORK Every Man Jack, an all-natural men’s grooming line sold at Target, Pharmaca and Whole Foods, has developed a collection of skin, shave and body products that meet the natural channel guidelines.

The packaging is made with 100% recyclable materials, and the products are free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates, dyes, phthalates, synthetic fragrances or testrasodium EDTA. The products are not tested on animals.

The collection includes, but is not limited to, face scrub – pre-shave, shave gel hydrating formula, body wash and face lotion SPF 15. Prices range between $5 and $8.

Coty Inc. CEO named member of Maidenform board

ISELIN, N.J. Coty Inc. CEO Bernd Beetz has been appointed to the board of directors for Maidenform Brands, a marketer of intimate apparel. Beetz also will function as a member of the nominating and governance committee.

“We are delighted to welcome Bernd to our board of directors,” stated Maurice Reznik, CEO of Maidenform. “Bernd had demonstrated strong leadership at Coty Inc., and his broad retail, marketing and international experience will serve our company well.”

Since 2001, Beetz has served as the CEO of Coty. Prior to joining Coty, Beetz served as president and CEO of Parfums Christian Dior France, a subsidiary of LVMH. From 1974 to 1998, he held various management positions throughout Europe at Procter & Gamble.

“A leader in their industry, Maidenform continues to experience great success developing innovative products for women worldwide,” stated Beetz. “I’m thrilled to join the Maidenform board.”
