Tangle Angel, Sun Bum win hair care Buyers’ Choice Award

Tangle Angel won the Drug Store News/ECRM Buyers Choice Award for its detangling brush during ECRM’s Hair Care Program, held last month in Palm Desert, Calif. Sun Bum was the finalist for its Hair Tripper travel kit.

The two companies were selected from dozens of entries in the award program, samples of which were displayed in the ECRM hospitality area during the program’s meetings. Buyers cast their votes based on product innovation and packaging.

London-based Tangle Angel was created by globally renowned celebrity and Royal hairdresser, Richard Ward to address the demand for a detangling brush with a handle. The result was innovatively-designed detangling brushes, of which more than two million per year have been sold throughout 45 different countries.

The Tangle Angel 2.0 features its classic Angel design, and its Rebel series was crafted to have a style that is edgy and unique, with a “rock n roll” skull design that makes a strong statement, according to the company.

Sun Bum, maker of sunscreen, lip care and baby care products, also produces a broad range of hair care products using carefully selected ingredients that help deliver on specific hair needs with beach-inspired scents such as banana or coconut. Its hair care products are cruelty-free and made without parabens, SLS/SLES, or phthalates, and they help protect hair from the sun’s ultraviolet rays and from becoming dull, brittle, frizzy and discolored. The products are sold in surf shops, boutique hotels and resorts, as well as Ulta, Target, CVS, Wegmans, H-E-B and Bed Bath & Beyond.

The new Sun Bum Hair Tripper includes some of the company’s best-selling hair care products in TSA-approved travel sizes for those on-the-go. The kit includes the Daily Revitalizing Shampoo & Conditioner in convenient 3-ounce sizes, made with coconut oil, banana, and sunflower seed oil to help deliver deep nutrition, intense moisture, and smoothing. It also includes the 3 in 1 Leave In Conditioner which detangles, conditions, and protects hair from UV rays, and a Dry Shampoo that uses tapioca starch instead of aluminum to allow consumers to wash less.
