Winn-Dixie opens transformational store that touts Hispanic influence

MIAMI — Winn-Dixie Stores on Tuesday celebrated the completion of its seventh state-of-the-art transformational store and the first to have a bilingual decor package.

“This store exemplifies our commitment to South Florida guests and serves as a one-stop grocery destination catering to the needs, tastes and preferences of the surrounding community,” Winn-Dixie regional VP Randy Rambo said. “We are passionate about delivering on our promise of providing Winn-Dixie guests with excellent service and an exceptional shopping experience.”

The Coral Way Winn-Dixie store features a sitting area, complete with free Wi-Fi internet access and a full-service Cuban café.

Features specific to the newly remodeled Miami Winn-Dixie include a new bilingual store decor package and a remodeled and expanded pharmacy, as well as several other expanded food departments.

Physical changes in the store include hardwood flooring throughout the produce, deli and bakery departments, and highly polished concrete floors elsewhere in the store, as well as modern lighting and brighter, more colorful bilingual decor that showcases the thousands of store offerings. Guests also can find “Winn-Dixie” and “Winn-Dixie Organic & Natural” private-label products, as well as a wide variety of Hispanic offerings. “We are committed to providing our South Florida guests with the greatest value and quality possible,” Rambo said.

To celebrate the grand reopening, Winn-Dixie will host a series of celebrations throughout November including cooking demonstrations, food tastings, live entertainment, raffles and giveaways.

El Sabor De Tu Pais. It is amazing how this bombed-out remains of a company can continue to live - zombie-like. Still a big operation at 485 stores, it seems like only time and the constant erosion of WalMart's, Publix's and Kroger's relentless pursuit of market share will tell the true story: WINN isn't winning anymore.

Walt Disney Studios to release ‘Cinderella,’ ‘Lady and the Tramp’ on Blu-ray

BURBANK, Calif. — Walt Disney Studios is set to release two of its animated classics on Blu-ray for a limited time.

"Lady and the Tramp" and "Cinderella" will join Disney’s Blu-ray Diamond Collection until Feb. 7, 2012, and fall 2012, respectively. Disney said its diamond-edition titles "boast the highest level of picture and sound; feature groundbreaking, state-of-the-art immersive bonus content; and include unprecedented levels of interactivity, personalization and customization, made possible because of Blu-ray technology."

To date, the company has released four diamond-edition titles, including: "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Beauty and the Beast," "Bambi" and "The Lion King."

Valoramas launches Latino-centric online shopping club

CHICAGO — Valoramas on Monday announced the launch of an online bilingual membership club for Latinos in the United States at Valoramas.com.

The Valoramas Shopping Mall includes more than 9 million products from almost 2,000 online retailers, including Target.com, Walmart.com, Best Buy, Sears.com, Apple, Macy’s, The Home Depot and Toys "R" Us. With a $25 annual membership cost, members enjoy exclusive offers and cash-back rates encompassing an average of more than 5% of the purchase price, up to 67%. Additionally, Valoramas features exclusive content and access to members-only events.

"We are thrilled to be launching Valoramas, providing Latinos with remarkable savings and much more, just in time for the holiday shopping season," stated Alejandra Garza, president of Valoramas. "Valoramas features the best cash-back rates available anywhere in the U.S., a true game-changer in online shopping."

Valoramas also promises to give back more than half of every dollar that it makes annually to its members and to organizations dedicated to serving Latinos. "Valoramas’ mission is to make a difference by providing a home where members can shop, save more, connect and come together to help expand possibilities in the Latino community," Garza said.

As part of Valoramas’ mission to serve, the company developed the Valoramas Community Grant Fund to award funds to community organizations dedicated to directly serving the needs of the Latino community. To jumpstart the fund’s contributions, founder’s grants totaling $150,000 will be awarded in January 2012. VCGF will invest in key areas, such as education, health care, community development and arts and humanities.
