Vancouver Sun: Pharmacy retailers threaten legal action if tobacco ban imposed in B.C.

BY Antoinette Alexander

VANCOUVER, B.C. — Top executives of several pharmacy retailers in British Columbia, including London Drugs, Safeway and Rexall, are threatening to take legal action against the College of Pharmacists of B.C. if tries to block tobacco sales in their stores on the grounds that the college would be exceeding its powers and jurisdiction, the Vancouver Sun reported.

British Columbia is the only Canadian province that allows tobacco to be sold in stores that have pharmacies. According to the Vancouver Sun article, the college is a long-time supporter of tobacco-free pharmacy but has not yet passed a ban.

The college reportedly discussed the issue at length in late spring during a board meeting and indicated that it would seek a legal opinion.

Retail executives have since issued a letter, according to the Vancouver Sun, threatening to take legal action if tobacco sales are banned.

Kaz eliminates pollen, pet dander with new Febreze Air Purifier

BY Michael Johnsen

SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Kaz on Wednesday launched the new Febreze Air Purifier. The Febreze Air Purifier does triple duty: it cleans the air through HEPA-Type filtration that removes up to 99% of airborne particles such as dust, pollen, pet dander, pet fur and other airborne contaminants, it traps household odors and it adds a fresh Febreze scent to the filtered air.

"Keeping up with dusting alone can be an overwhelming, time intensive task," said Julie Edelman, The Accidental Housewife and expert in healthy home keeping and maintenance. "Add to that the challenge of odor elimination that comes with pets, dirty laundry, damp basements, teenagers, sports equipment and the never ending variety of smells coming from the kitchen, and you have your hands full. The new Febreze Air Purifier does a powerful job of continuously cleaning the air of dust, pollen, pet hair and more and it helps restore the feeling of freshness to your home, so you can feel confident that cleaner, fresher air is circulating in your room."

In addition to providing air cleaning and freshening, Febreze air purifiers are easy to use, requiring a simple dual-action HEPA-Type filter that lasts up to four months. User-friendly controls help customize the air purifier for every room's needs, with three air-cleaning levels and a freshness control dial for the Febreze air purifier scent cartridge. Automatic scent and filter-replacement indicator lights remind the user to replace the scent cartridge and/or filter to ensure optimal performance. The air purifiers come with the Febreze dual-action HEPA-Type filter and one Febreze Linen & Sky scent cartridge. Scent cartridges last up to 30 days and refills are available in Linen & Sky and Spring & Renewal scents. Designed to accommodate any room, the Febreze Air Purifiers are available in tabletop, compact tower and tower-sized models.

Available at most major retailers, the Febreze Air Purifier is offered at the following suggested retail prices: Tabletop for $59.99, Compact Tower for $69.99 and Tower for $89.99.
