Unilever’s Simple brand, Makers kick off search for ‘Next Makers’

NEW YORK — Unilever’s Simple facial skin care brand has teamed up with Makers, a multiplatinum video experience from AOL and PBS that honors trailblazing women, to launch a nationwide search to find women in local communities who will become recognized as “Next Makers.”

For the next several weeks, the public may nominate themselves or women in their own lives who have made a remarkable impact at a local level, are viewed as role models and inspire people around them to take action.

Candidates for Next Makers will be considered based on accomplishments large and small, as well as their leadership, activism and positive social impact. Six women from across the country will ultimately be selected to tell their stories in short videos that will appear on Makers.com, alongside videos from Supreme Court justices, secretaries of state and CEOs, as well as athletes, activists and entertainers.

Simple will join Makers in saluting these women by awarding each Next Maker with a $10,000 grant. The Next Makers will be flown to New York City to attend a dinner hosted by Makers and Simple and film their stories with the Makers filmmaking team.

Revlon celebrates 80 years during Fashion’s Night Out

NEW YORK — Revlon, along with its Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman, will co-host the ultimate "glam" party during New York’s Fashion’s Night Out on Sept. 6 to celebrate Revlon’s 80 years as a beauty icon.
 
Consumers can purchase tickets to the celebration, which will include custom makeovers inspired by looks from Revlon’s eight decades created by Westman’s New York Fashion Week backstage team, as well as the latest nail art manicures by celebrity nail expert Jin Soon Choi, a Revlon photo booth to capture the night, cocktails and more.

Those unable to join Revlon for its New York celebration will still be able to get in on the Fashion’s Night Out fun with an exclusive preview of Westman’s newest color collection: The Shanghai Collection by Gucci Westman for Revlon, Fall 2012. Beauty aficionados can choose from the entire collection or a selection of nail colors/appliques.

These product packs, along with tickets to Revlon’s 80th Anniversary Celebration during New York’s Fashion’s Night Out, went on sale on Wednesday. All proceeds will be donated to the Personal Care Products Council Foundation to benefit Look Good Feel Better, a charitable organization that helps cancer patients improve their self-esteem and confidence by teaching them how to cope with the changes in their appearance related to the side effects of their treatment.

Tickets to Revlon’s 80th Anniversary Celebration in New York will be sold for $50 and are available in limited quantities.
