Tria Beauty announces partnership with actress Jenny McCarthy

DUBLIN, Calif. —Tria Beauty has announced its partnership with actress Jenny McCarthy on behalf of its Tria Hair Removal Laser, the FDA-cleared laser available for at-home hair removal.  

Under this new partnership, McCarthy will be collaborating with Tria for various public relations and marketing campaigns. 

"We were excited to learn that Ms. McCarthy is as much of a fan of the Tria Hair Removal Laser as Tria Beauty is of her," stated Tim Bunch, VP/GM North American marketing for Tria Beauty. "We are happy to welcome Ms. McCarthy to the Tria Beauty family, as she embodies our brand personality — intelligent, confident and trustworthy."

Former Elizabeth Arden exec launches new skin care line

NEW YORK — Vargas Cosmetics has announced the introduction of Tilth Beauty, a new skin care line created by Anthony Vargas, former VP of research and development for Elizabeth Arden.

After 25 years with Arden, Vargas started Vargas Cosmetics and launched Tilth Beauty.  It debuted exclusively online in October and will be available in salons and retail outlets in 2013. 

All Tilth Beauty products are free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, petroleum-based products, silicones, synthetic fragrances, GMO, animal/dairy derived products and artificial coloring.  In addition, it is gluten free, cruelty free and has green packaging.

The Tilth Beauty line is comprised of 14 products including cleansers, toners, moisturizers, serums and eye treatments. The products range in price from $32 for a cleanser to $62 for a serum.

Prior to his work at Elizabeth Arden, where he was instrumental in developing their prestige Prevage and Ceramine lines, Vargas worked in skin care research and development at Avon Products for nine years.

New IFRANA documentary provides rare look at fragrance industry

WASHINGTON – The International Fragrance Association of North America has announced the release of "The Story of Fragrances," a documentary that gives an inside look at the fragrance industry and the science behind some of the world’s most well-known and successful perfumes.

The film features such perfumers as Carlos Benaim, creator of Polo by Ralph Lauren. Benaim and other artists come together to discuss their expertise, inspirations and knowledge of the fragrance industry.

"The Story of Fragrances" gives viewers a unique glimpse into the processes artists and scientists use to create fragrances. Experts from the industry discuss how artistry and passion combine with science and technology to produce some of the world’s best-selling fragrances.

"This documentary will open people’s eyes to the science and artistry behind the fragrances we all use and love," said Jennifer Abril, president of IFRANA. "This film clears up any misperceptions about the industry by showing that safety, precaution and precision are essential when crafting fragrances. ‘The Story of Fragrances’ demonstrates that consumer safety is the No. 1 goal of the industry."

The documentary features a number of scientists and artists, including Christophe Laudamiel, co-perfumer on Polo Blue by Ralph Lauren and winner of the FIFI "Fragrance Star of the Year" Award in 2003. The film also contains interviews with Jennifer Abril, perfume evaluator Nancy Cordaro, and master perfumers Steven Claisse and Mark Banwer.
