Target soft opens western Canada stores
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Target is opening 22 of its stores in western Canada Tuesday and two more next Tuesday, the mass merchandise retailer said.
Target announced that it would soft open stores in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba. Most of the stores will include pharmacies and in-store Starbucks. The chain plans to open 124 stores across Canada this year and opened 24 in Ontario in March.

Target resets OTC section, expands VMS offering
HARRISBURG, Pa. — Target recently reset its over-the-counter section here with new, colorful signage that makes each section pop. With the reset, the mass retailer extended its VMS offering by four linear feet, which now extends the full aisle. And across the aisle from VMS are adult meal replacement options, stocking everything from bars to shakes. The aisle spills out onto the prescription drop-off counter, which is likely by design, as people waiting to fill their monthly chronic-disease scripts now will be standing between two aisles that could enable a healthy lifestyle change. Smart move.
Crossmark names Jim Rose president of marketing services
PLANO, Texas — Crossmark, a sales and marketing services company, has appointed Jim Rose as president of marketing services.
Previously, Crossmark CEO Joe Crafton had been leading this area of the company.
The addition of Rose to the leadership team at Crossmark is a “significant” move that bolsters its position and expertise in marketing services, the company stated. Crossmark works to drive brand growth for clients through its portfolio of marketing services that include in-store events, experiential marketing, shopper marketing, consumer engagement and field intelligence. Rose will oversee these services and is charged with expanding capabilities to benefit the company’s business partners.
According to Crossmark, Rose brings marketing thought leadership and a world-class discipline in creating strategies and ROI-driven solutions that drive brand activation and consumer engagement. This includes specialized expertise in the areas of data analytics, insights, shopper engagement and experiential marketing, as well as digital and social media.
Prior to joining Crossmark, Rose was chairman and CEO of Mosaic Sales Solutions based in Irving, Texas. He also held leadership positions at The Nielsen Co. both in the United States and Europe, and MPG (Media Planning Group, part of Havas Worldwide, a global advertising and communications company). In addition, Rose led QXLricardo, a publically traded e-commerce and digital company headquartered in London. He began his career as a consultant at Deloitte, based in Chicago, and received an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
