Family Dollar’s Mike Bloom next top executive to go undercover for CBS’ ‘Undercover Boss’
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Family Dollar president and COO Mike Bloom will be featured on the CBS award-winning reality series, "Undercover Boss" this Friday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. EST. For the episode, Bloom went undercover in several Family Dollar stores and at one of the company’s distribution centers, where he worked a variety of jobs alongside company team members.
Having joined Family Dollar in September of 2011, Bloom decided to take part in the show to get a first-hand look at what team members go through every day and to find ways to make their jobs easier.
"I had no idea what to expect when I signed up for ‘Undercover Boss,’ but I am so glad I decided to participate," Bloom said. "This was an experience that I will never forget and one that I know will forever shape the way I do my job. This experience offered more insight into what our team members experience every day, and also confirmed to me that we have some incredible people working on the front lines in our stores and distribution centers."
During the show, Bloom had the opportunity to change the lives of several team members for the better. "This show became more to me than just the chance to get an inside look at what goes on inside our more than 8,000 stores and 11 distribution centers," Bloom said. "This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me to get to know some of our team members on a very personal level. I am so proud of the team members we have working for us, and I know the changes we make, both for those featured and for those behind the scenes, will make a tremendous impact on their working lives."
Look forward to watching. He was a great executive at CVS! Retailers all try to have systems best systems in place to offer best product selection at best price in for their multiple types of shopper... At the end of the day its about the people at store level.
Duck brand duct tape to partner with Fiskars
AVON, OH — Duck Tape brand duct tape will join forces with Fiskars Corp. to introduce a new line of scissors for crafting, the companies announced on Tuesday.
“Both Duck brand duct tape and Fiskars share a commitment to creating innovative products that help people express their creativity,” Fiskars VP brand marketing Jay Gillespie said. “This partnership is a perfect fit, and we’re looking forward to giving enthusiasts tools that make creating with Duck Tape easier than ever before.”
The scissors will be available at select retailers in June 2014.
