Target offers mobile coupons via Passbook

MINNEAPOLIS — Target customers who receive the retailer’s mobile coupons now can access them on their iPhone or iPod Touch via Passbook.

"We’re thrilled to bring our guests the ability to use Target mobile coupons via Passbook on their iPhone and iPod Touch," said Phil McKoy, VP Target.com and mobile experience. "Passbook marks an exciting step forward as Target continues to seek the most innovative ways to deliver a great shopping experience to our guests."

The Target app is available for free from the App Store on iPhone or iPod Touch, or at iTunes.com/appstore.

Stop & Shop raises nearly $400K through hunger relief program

QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop customers and associates donated nearly $400,000 through the company’s first-ever Healthy Ideas Food for Friends hunger relief program.

Stop & Shop will donate 100% of the funds to regional hunger relief agencies across the Northeast. The storewide effort kicked off on Aug. 3 and ran through Aug. 26. Customers contributed in-store donations of $1, $3 or $5 at checkout registers. Sixty percent of the funds raised, approximately $239,200, will be donated to hundreds of local hunger relief agencies each store adopts. Fourty percent of the funds, approximately $159,400, will be donated to seven regional food banks.

"Healthy Ideas Food for Friends was designed to bring relief during a time when many are not thinking about hunger," said Joe Kelley, president of Stop & Shop’s New England division. "We are grateful for our customers’ unending generosity. This program will make a difference in thousands of lives, bringing healthy and more nutritious meals to those in need."

Udi’s Gluten Free Foods bolsters lineup

DENVER — Udi’s Gluten Free Foods is boosting its portfolio with the launch of five new items. The products were showcased at the Natural Products Expo East.

"Sharing our new product line at Expo East means Udi’s will bring even more delicious options to the gluten-free community," said Denise Sirovatka, vice president of marketing. "Any time Udi’s creates something new, it’s in response to the needs and requests of our fans. We love bringing their ideas to life for a more enjoyable, fulfilling eating experience."

New items include:

  • Plain tortillas, available in 6-in. and 9-in. varieties, which carry a suggested retail price range of $6.29 to $7.29;

  • Everything Inside bagel — which feature poppy seeds, onion, salt and garlic, as well as millet and flax seeds, all baked inside — carries a suggested retail price of $6.49;

  • Harvest Crunch muffins: A combination of whole grains, cranberry, sweet potato and pepitas, the muffins carry a suggested retail price of $6.99;

  • Mighty bagel are hearty yet light and doughy, and combines cranberry, quinoa, sunflower seeds and pepitas. It carries a suggested retail price of $6.49;

  • Double vanilla muffins, which carry a suggested retail price of $6.99.

The new products will be available in stores beginning in November.
