Survey: One-third of consumers will consider layaway for holiday shopping
WHITING, Ind. — A CouponCabin.com survey of 2,339 shoppers found that 34% are at least somewhat likely to purchase items on layaway this holiday season.
The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, also found that 9% are very likely to use layaway; 29% said maybe.
When asked what they believe are the benefits to using a layaway program for holiday shopping, U.S. adults said the following:
54% said layaway helps them to buy larger items that they couldn’t afford to buy all at once;
52% said it helps with budgeting;
46% said it helps them avoid using credit cards;
43% said it helps to with planning ahead;
43% like being able to reserve a popular item; and
33% said they don’t need to have good credit to use layaway programs.
"Layaway can be a smart option for holiday shoppers on a budget, as it forces shoppers to be disciplined about saving and reduces impulse purchases," said Jackie Warrick, president and CEO at CouponCabin.com.
MinuteClinic becomes participating provider with Tricare in Western states
WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark’s MinuteClinic has become an in-network provider with TriWest, the Western region plan contractor for Tricare — the healthcare insurance program for Uniformed Service members, retirees and their families.
Tricare provides healthcare insurance services to 2.9 million lives in the western region, including those in six western states where MinuteClinic operates walk-in clinics inside select CVS/pharmacy stores: Arizona, California, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and Nevada. MinuteClinic already is contracted with Health Net (Tricare North region contractor) and Humana Military (Tricare South region contractor) and now offers care to Tricare members across the United States.

Colgate-Palmolive, Omron Healthcare to develop oral care products
NEW YORK — Consumer products company Colgate-Palmolive and Omron Healthcare, a maker of medical home healthcare and wellness products, have teamed up to market and develop oral care products, including electric toothbrushes.
Through this partnership, each partner will bring distinctive strengths: Colgate’s global marketing reach, consumer insights and capabilities in research and development, and Omron’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities and sensing and control technologies.
The partnership this year will launch a line of electric toothbrushes based on Omron technology that will be marketed by Colgate. This marks an expansion into the electric toothbrush category for Colgate, which markets manual toothbrushes and battery-powered brushes.
