Shopko supports breast cancer research in new merchandising campaign
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Shopko will use proceeds from sales of some women’s clothing to support breast cancer research, the mass merchandiser said.
As part of the "Support the Cure" program, purchases of select women’s activewear and accessories from West Coast Novelty Group will help support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Shopko is partnering with both for the fundraising effort.
Prices for the merchandise range from $3.99 to $24.99, and West Coast Novelty Group will donate $100,000 to the foundation. Items include socks, hats, T-shirts, bags, drinkware, hoods and fleece tops.
Avella to provide services to Medicaid patients through partnership with Care1st
PHOENIX — A managed Medicaid health plan has selected Avella Specialty Pharmacy as its preferred specialty pharmacy partner, Avella said Wednesday.
Avella announced that under the agreement, with Care1st Health Plan Arizona, Avella would deliver specialty services to members, dispensing specialty drugs and providing patient consultation and adherence monitoring. Care1st contracts with MedImpact Healthcare Systems for pharmacy benefit management services.
"We are pleased to partner with Care1st to provide specialty pharmacy services to its members," Avella VP managed markets Kevin James said. "Avella’s mission is to optimize patient health, and through this collaboration with Care1st and MedImpact, we will be able to provide a unique level of service to these patients."
Family Dollar names EVP of supply chain
MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores has named Jeffrey Macak as EVP supply chain, reporting to Mike Bloom, president and COO.
For the last 13 years, Macak has served as VP global supply chain for Bed Bath & Beyond, where he was responsible for the supply chain, logistics and distribution of goods for the company and its subsidiaries.
Previous to that, he served as president of Vantix Logistics for Ameriserve (acquired by McLane Co.). Macak also held various positions with The Hechinger Co., a home improvement retailer, and with KPMG Consulting and Deloitte-Garr Consulting Group. He began his career as a senior consultant with Manugistics.
“With more than 25 years of wide-ranging operational experience, in both retailing and supply chain, Jeffrey’s background and leadership skills are a perfect complement to our operations and growth initiatives,” Bloom stated. “In today’s highly competitive retail environment, building an efficient end-to-end supply chain is critical to our success, and we will look to Jeffrey’s extensive expertise to advance our ongoing efforts to improve supply chain efficiencies and drive increased value for our customers.”
