Scott Shared Values program debuts

DALLAS — Bath tissue and paper towel brand Scott has introduced a new program for consumers that provides exclusive access to deals and rewards.

Through the Scott Shared Values program, consumers will gain access to special savings toward Scott items, as well as an inside track to unique deals from top brands, as well as free admission to participating family attractions nationwide. New deals will offered each month and for those who sign up and share with family and friends, they will be able to unlock even more offers, the company said.

"The Shared Values program celebrates the more than 100 years of trust our consumers have placed in Scott to consistently deliver value to their families," said Darin Berg, senior brand manager for Scott. "That’s why we created the program. It’s our way of saying ‘Thank You’ for being a loyal Scott brand enthusiast."

FDA approves generic versions of asthma, allergy drug

SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved several generic versions of a drug used to treat asthma and allergies, the agency said Friday.

The FDA announced the approval of montelukast sodium, a drug indicated for controlling asthma symptoms and relieving indoor and outdoor allergies.

The drug is a generic version of Merck’s Singulair, which had sales of $4.6 billion in 2011, according to IMS Health.

The FDA said it approved versions of the tablet and chewable tablet formulations of the drug made by Apotex, Aurobindo Pharma, Endo Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Reddy’s Labs, Kudco Ireland, Mylan, Roxane Labs, Sandoz, Teva Pharmaceuticals and Torrent Pharmaceuticals. Teva also received approval for the oral granule formulation.
