NEW YORK It’s bad enough that you have to laugh at your boss’s jokes throughout the Christmas party, right? Then as your walking to your car you’re wondering if you’ve had too much to drink, if you had enough to eat and if you allowed enough time between your last sip of wine before you decided it was safe enough to head home.
Wonder no longer. Seen here at Walgreens are two alcohol tests. One that looks like an actual breathalizer that retails for $49.99, and the other, from Inverness, an alcohol diagnostics test that only costs $9.99.
NCR strikes deal with Publix
DULUTH, Ga. NCR Corp. has reached an agreement to operate its DVD rental kiosks in Publix Super Markets.
NCR plans to complete the installation of its Blockbuster Express DVD-rental kiosks in most Florida-area Publix stores by Nov. 1, the company said. NCR also has begun installations in select Publix stores in other major markets, including Atlanta; Birmingham, Ala.; Savannah, Ga.; Greenville, S.C.; and Charleston, S.C.
No membership is required to rent a DVD from NCR’s kiosks – customers simply swipe their credit card and are charged $1 per night until they return the DVD.
“At Publix, we strive to continuously offer our customers value and service,” said Maria Brous, director of media and community relations for Publix Super Markets. “By partnering with NCR, we are offering our customers the convenience of DVD rentals as part of their traditional shopping experience. The initial feedback we have received from our customers is that they enjoy the wide selection of movies, ease of the transaction and the time-saving aspect of one-stop shopping. DVD movie rentals at Publix are just another way we meet the changing needs of our customers.”
NCR expects to invest as much as $60 million in 2009 to build out its DVD-rental kiosk operations. The company expects to deploy more than 2,500 kiosks in 2009 for a total of 10,000 kiosks by mid-year 2010.

Jacksonville Jaguars player to join Winn-Dixie ad campaign
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Winn-Dixie Stores plans to name Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew to its advertising team during an event at a Jacksonville Winn-Dixie store Wednesday, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
According to the report, Jaguars’ running back is joining the grocery store chain’s “Fresh Checked Every Day” advertising campaign, which is being accompanied by a “GoMoJo” submarine sandwich he designed for sale in its stores.
“I am excited to partner with Winn-Dixie and to have a special submarine sandwich named in my honor,” Jones-Drew stated.
