Save Mart Supermarkets names VP of FoodMaxx
MODESTO, Calif. — Save Mart Supermarkets announced the hiring of Brett Wing as VP of FoodMaxx operations. Wing comes from Cub Foods/Supervalu in Hudson, Wis., and brings 35 years of grocery store and senior management experience, the grocer stated.
“Brett’s vast experience with Cub Foods and the variety of positions he has held at Supervalu will allow him to help grow our FoodMaxx market share in an economy that is very challenging for our customers,” stated Frank Capps, Save Mart EVP and chief sales officer. “It is a time where our customers are looking for value in every food item they buy. We are looking forward to his fresh look at our business.”
In 1987, Capps joined the Cub Foods/Supervalu and held various positions, including VP marketing, corporate director of produce and corporate director of frozen food/dairy/liquor, among other positions.
Wing’s grocery career started with Safeway in Boulder, Colo. He served on the board of trustees for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for the past five years and was an active community leader serving as the president of the Cub Cares Community Foundation.
Ferndale Healthcare launches OTC hemorrhoid therapy
FERNDALE, Mich. — Ferndale Healthcare on Monday announced the launch of RectiCare Anorectal cream, an over-the-counter therapy to help relieve the pain and discomfort associated with hemorrhoids. RectiCare is a topical, local anesthetic that contains 5% lidocaine.
Each tube of RectiCare comes with a supply of "finger cots," little cotton covers that fit over the finger. They promote hygienic application, since the finger doesn’t come into contact with the product or the area to which it’s being applied, the company stated.
Sleep Sheets make market debut
NEW YORK — PureBrands has expanded its Sheets portfolio to include a new item that’s designed to "promote restful sleep for those experiencing occasional sleeplessness."
The brand has launched new Sleep Sheets, dissolvable strips that feature such ingredients as melatonin, goji berry, l-theanine and chamomile extract. New Sheets sleep strips now are available at retailers, including Walgreens.
As previously reported by Drug Store News, the company is promoting the new product with help from spokeswoman and tennis pro Serena Williams.
