Save-A-Lot opens two new stores

ST. LOUIS A discount grocery chain opened two new stores in Louisiana and Maryland.

Save-A-Lot opened its 20th store in Louisiana in the town of Opelousas, in addition to its 21st store in Maryland in Essex.

In honor of the store openings, Save-A-Lot is making a $2,500 gift card donation to a food bank in each city: Central Food Bank of St. Landry Parish in Opelousas and Eastern Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry in Essex, to help with their mission to reduce hunger in their respective communities.

DALLAS One of the nation’s leading discount grocery retailers is expanding its presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with the opening of a new store in the Oak Cliff community.

Save-A-Lot’s new store signifies the company’s continued commitment to providing affordable, quality groceries to Dallas residents, as well as the company’s entry into the Hispanic grocery market — the Oak Cliff location carries popular Latino brands.

Save-A-Lot operates nearly 1,200 stores in 39 states from Maine to California.

Fresh & Easy opens in South L.A.

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. Fresh & Easy has opened its first store in South Los Angeles.

According to the company, the store was one of the first sites identified by the grocer over two years ago and is the centerpiece of an impressive new mixed-use development with affordable housing units and additional retail space.

Mary Kasper, VP and general counsel for Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, said, “We’re opening stores in all types of neighborhoods because we fundamentally believe everyone regardless of where they live deserves access to quality, fresh food at affordable prices. We’re also proud to bring more quality jobs to the neighborhood, particularly in this economy.”
