Saffron Road introduces three new non-GMO simmer sauces
STAMFORD, Conn. — At this year’s Summer Fancy Food Show, Saffron Road, the packaged food brand of American Halal Co., expanded its line of single-use simmer sauce pouches with the introduction of three new flavors: harissa, Korean stir fry and Thai red curry.
The new Simmer Sauces are all-natural and support the company’s ongoing commitment to providing Non-GMO Project Verified options for consumers.
The new simmer sauces include: Harissa is made from piri piri, a red pepper from the Sahara, and infused with flavorful spices and herbs; Korean Stir Fry, which is crafted with hints of pear and a touch of toasted sesame oil, it features true Korean gochugaru peppers; and Thai red curry, which is an authentic sauce filled with ingredients from galangal ginger to kaffir lime to create a complex flavor.
White House assistant Kristina Schake joining L’Oréal USA as chief communications officer
NEW YORK — L’Oréal USA president and CEO Frederic Roze announced on Monday that Kristina Schake will be joining L’Oréal USA as chief communications officer, effective July 8.
Schake will represent L’Oréal USA for all corporate communications and will lead the external communications strategy in the areas of public and media relations, industry and government relations, sustainability and crisis communications. In addition, Schake will oversee the company’s corporate philanthropic programs.
Schake is currently a special assistant to President Barack Obama and communications director to First Lady Michelle Obama. Prior to joining the White House in December 2010, Schake was co-founder and principal of Griffin|Schake, a California-based public affairs and strategic communications firm that specialized in helping civic leaders, major foundations and nonprofit organizations bring about critical social change through policy, legislative, social marketing and media initiatives.
She was a founding board member of the American Foundation for Equal Rights, the sole sponsor of the federal court challenge to California’s Proposition 8, which was heard before the U.S. Supreme Court in March.

Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board releases certification exam handbook
TAMPA, Fla. — The Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board has published a handbook containing information about applying for and maintaining specialty pharmacist credentials.
The SPCB announced Monday the release of the Certified Specialty Pharmacist Candidate Handbook, which includes information on eligibility requirements, examination content outlines, testing information, code of conduct, recertification requirements and fees.
The group said the handbook provides information necessary for specialty pharmacists to take the CSP examination and is available from the group’s website, www.spcboard.org. The group will begin accepting applications for the exam in July and offer it each April and October.
