Ruffles brand chips introduces crispy fries
PLANO, Texas — Ruffles, one of the flagship brands from PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division, is adding a twist to one of America’s most popular side dishes. Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips, available nationwide this month and just in time for National French Fry Day on July 13, are a French fry-shaped snack sliced from real potatoes.
The new product brings to life the French fry experience — from the shape, to the taste, to the crunchy texture and even to the packaging, the Frito-Lay stated. They also can be microwaved for a straight-from-the-diner flavor, the company noted.
"Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips are inspired by bar and diner foods guys really love, but packaged conveniently for on-the-go snacking," said Christina Menendez, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay North America. "These great tasting fries can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime and are great on their own as a snack or a perfect accompaniment to hamburgers and hot dogs."
Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips are rolling out just in time for National French Fry Day on July 13, a day dedicated to celebrating an American food staple. While French fries most likely originated in Belgium during World War I, according to numerous historical reports, the snack has become one of the most popular and iconic in modern America. Ruffles’ newest snack adds a unique spin on the long and celebrated history of the French fry.
Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips are offered in two varieties — original and cheese-flavored. A 1-oz. bag has a suggested retail price of $1.09.

Oral-B, Nascar driver Ryan Newman join forces to support U.S. veterans
CINCINNATI — To celebrate this Independence Day, Oral-B and NASCAR driver Ryan Newman are teaming up with Hope for the Warriors, a national nonprofit organization that assists post-9/11 service members, to help veterans reintegrate into the civilian workforce.
This commitment is part of Oral-B’s Built in the USA campaign, which celebrates the brand’s commitment to the American workforce and American-built products, including its Pro-Health All-in-One manual toothbrush, which is built in Iowa City, Iowa.
In recent data, the U.S. Department of Labor shows that 9.9% of post-9/11 veterans are unemployed, which is well above the national unemployment average of 7.6%, so Oral-B is pledging $100,000 to Hope for the Warriors to assist U.S. service members’ reintegration into the workforce. Through specially designed programs, the organization helps veterans develop professional skills and enhance their ability to navigate the transition into the civilian sector, including new careers, business ownership and advanced educational opportunities.
This weekend, Newman will participate in a Hope for the Warriors partnership celebration at the Oral-B Built in the USA Stage in Daytona, Fla., prior to the Coke Zero 400 race. This is part of Oral-B’s Built in the USA tour, which includes visiting race cities with Newman during key American holidays this year.
Oral-B’s Iowa City plant is the largest toothbrush plant in the world and currently employs nearly 500 people, including U.S. veterans.
