Probiotic frozen yogurt now available at Winn-Dixie stores

JACKSONVILLE, Fl. Winn-Dixie customers now can enjoy a premium frozen yogurt with the added health benefits of probiotics commonly found only in refrigerated dairy products.

Yovation debuts in all 520 Winn-Dixie stores this week. It was inspired by the growing consumer interest and popularity of probiotic products and the medical community’s recognition of probiotics’ benefits in promoting digestive health.

“Yovation provides all of the great taste people want in a frozen yogurt with the added benefits probiotics provide,” said Laura Hindulak, Pierre’s director of marketing. “Consumers are looking for other ways of getting probiotics into their diet, and Yovation is positioned to fill that role.”

Yovation comes in six flavors: Cookie Fudge Crunch, Double Fudge Brownie, Toasted Almond, Vanilla Bean, Vanilla Honey Granola, and Vanilla with Hola Fruita! Pomegranate & Blueberry Sherbet.

Made by Pierre’s Ice Cream Company, a quart of Yovation sells for $4.79 – $4.99.

Quaker Oats announces re-positioning of business to focus on whole-grain oats

CHICAGO The Quaker Oats Company, a division of PepsiCo, announced Tuesday that it is launching an expansive re-positioning of its business to focus on the wholesome goodness of its products made with whole-grain oats.

For the first time in its 130-plus year history, Quaker will communicate with one voice about the company’s whole-grain oats portfolio of products underneath one umbrella versus individual product categories. Whole-grain oats are the hallmark ingredient in Quaker Old Fashioned Oats, Quaker Quick Oats and Quaker Instant Oatmeal, Quaker Oatmeal Squares ready-to-eat cereal and a key ingredient in Quaker Life cereal and Quaker Chewy granola bars.

“This re-positioning helps us elevate and communicate the power of this surprising super grain ¬ the oat‹to meet the needs of the growing number of health conscious consumers,”said Mark Schiller, president, Quaker Oats. “We feel that Quaker has a great opportunity as a market leader in health and wellness to leverage our product portfolio under one powerful platform.”

Quaker Oats also added that the company is set to launch a new marketing and advertising campaign with the theme “Go humans go”, which celebrates the whole-grain oat as a “super grain.” The campaign reinforces that the whole-grain oat is a key Quaker ingredient that helps power the bodies and minds of humans and inspires people to be their best. The iconic “Quaker Man” keeps a watchful eye over all the fanciful activations of the “go” idea.

Quaker partnered with Omnicom’s Goodby Silverstein & Partners to concept and produce the “Go humans go” campaign, which includes an out-of-home teaser campaign in nine top national markets, including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

The teaser campaign began the week of Feb. 23 and the television launch begins Mar. 16 on prime time and cable outlets. Print advertising begins in April as will sponsorships for mom consumers through online properties.

All Sport Inc., Dr. Pepper Snapple Group to launch zero-calorie sports beverage

PLANO, Texas All Sport, Inc. and Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. announced Tuesdayis that they are set to launch what the companies boast as the first and only zero-calorie sports drink.

All Sport Naturally Zero, the first and only zero-calorie sports drink sweetened with rebiana, an all-natural sweetener from stevia.

“Athletes and exercisers continue to drive new demands on the sports-drink market,” said Gary Smith, chairman, CEO, All Sport, Inc. “All Sport Naturally Zero is a zero-calorie sports drink that provides all of the hydration without the calories, naturally.”

Rebiana is an all-natural zero calorie sweetener derived from the stevia plant. Stevia has been used as a sweetener for centuries and rebiana was recently approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for use in a variety of foods and beverages.

All Sport Naturally Zero 20-ounce bottles will be available April 2009 in convenience and gas, grocery and specialty retail channels in three flavors: Dragonfruit, Strawberry Star Fruit and Mandarin Orange.
