BY Michael Johnsen

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Wegmans in June will open The Pub at Wegmans, a full service restaurant and bar at their Allentown location, the company announced Thursday. Led by Executive Chef Geno Nosenzo and using the fresh ingredients sold on-site in the store, The Pub at Wegmans will serve an array of dishes that go beyond typical pub standards, as well as cocktails, wines by the bottle or glass and an extensive selection of craft beer.

“The response to The Pub at Wegmans has been fantastic, and we’re thrilled to bring fresh, chef-prepared food and craft beer to our newest location in Allentown,” stated Kathy Haines, director of Wegmans in-store restaurants and Market Cafes, including three other Pennsylvania Pubs in Malvern, King of Prussia and Collegeville. “We look forward to getting to know our new neighbors over a pint or a meal and seeing them again and again throughout the year for reliably fresh, tasty food and drinks.”

To complement the menu, The Pub serves a wide variety of local, domestic and international craft beers, including a special craft beer, the Wegmans Sly Fox Tale Chaser, a summer ale brewed by Sly Fox Brewing Company exclusively for, and only available at the Pub, along with a variety of Pennsylvania favorites, such as Yuengling, Stout’s, Victory and a number of other local breweries on draught. They also offer a selection of wines from around the world, available by the glass or bottle, and a number of original cocktails.

Kroger executive recipient of YWCA Career Woman of Achievement honor

BY Michael Johnsen

CINCINNATI — Kroger on Thursday publicly congratulated Kathleen Barclay, corporate officer and SVP human resources, for her recognition as a YWCA Career Woman of Achievement. Barclay was honored along with eight other women at YWCA’s annual event.

"I am honored and humbled to receive this recognition from the YWCA, a truly exceptional organization in Cincinnati and across the country," Barclay said. "I am grateful to work in an industry that provides the incredible opportunity to touch the lives of a very large group of women inside and outside our company, each and every day."

Barclay serves as chair of the board of the National Academy of Human Resources and as a board member of the Human Resource Policy Association. In Cincinnati, she serves on the United Way Women’s Leadership Council and as a board member of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

The YWCA Salute to Career Women of Achievement was established in 1980 to increase community awareness and appreciation of the diverse contributions of women in the work force and in the community. The luncheon has evolved into the YWCA’s largest fundraising event, sponsored by 150 companies and organizations each year.  All proceeds directly benefit YWCA programs.

Several Kroger executives are previous recipients of this YWCA recognition, including Marnette Perry, SVP strategic initiatives and operations; Lynn Marmer, group VP corporate affairs; and Kathy Kelly, president of Kroger personal finance.
