Payless ShoeSource gets SXY

TOPEKA, Kan. — Payless ShoeSource is expanding its beauty offering with the availability of a new beauty brand, SXY by Unforgettable Moments, arriving in stores this week. Featuring nearly 20 affordable beauty and body items, the new line represents yet more competition for chain drug beauty.

The SXY items are available in 1,500 stores and start as low as $4, with nearly all products priced under $10. The new brand joins two other beauty collections in the Payless beauty portfolio: Unforgettable Moments and Zoe & Zac Naturals.

"We view beauty and body products as the latest fashion accessory — just as important to rounding out a look as shoes, handbags, scarves and jewelry," stated LuAnn Via, Payless CEO. "Our expanding beauty collection offers women affordable, on-trend finishing touches — a pop of color, a shimmer or fabulous fragrance — to more fully complete their signature style. SXY fits nicely in our beauty portfolio as a line for women seeking glamorous style at a great price."

The SXY spring collection includes a signature fragrance — a melding of pineapple, citrus, sandalwood, musk and amber notes. This scent is available in an eau de toilette, priced at $20, and also is available as a mini purse spray for $10. The fragrance is infused in several body products, including a shower gel, shimmer mist and shimmer powder puff.

Color items are all priced $7 and under. A double-sided "Fat" eyeliner pencil comes with a built-in sharpener in the cap in duo-tones of Silver Dust/Bold Blue and Lilac Petal/Purple, among others. A light-up lip gloss features an affixed mirror and lighted applicator wand for applying in dark spaces, and is available in such spring shades as Raspberry Martini and Tropical Tease. A click-bottom sheer tint lip gloss features such colors as Pink Martina, Cool Melon and Berry Glaze, and will be available in early June.

Zippity Doo’s products arrive in Navarro Discount Pharmacy

NEW YORK — A line of head lice prevention hair care products has made its way to a Florida-based pharmacy chain.

Zippity Doo’s products now are available throughout southern Florida at Navarro Discount Pharmacy. The products, the company said, now feature multilingual packaging.

“Our expansion into south Florida through Navarro is an important step in establishing Zippity Doo’s as a leader in lice prevention hair care products,” said Linda Surkis of Laurus Enterprises, the maker of Zippity Doo’s. “Lice know no geographical boundaries, and we know parents in south Florida need to feel confident their children will be free of head lice.”

The Zippity Doo’s lineup includes shampoo, conditioner, styling gel, leave-in detangler and all-surface shield spray.

Sears glamorizes mass-market appeal

Sears is banking on beauty and is hoping that its recent expansion into beauty not only encourages more women to see the softer side of Sears, but also will bolster cross-category shopping.


Following a 13-store test nationwide in 2010, Sears now is expanding its beauty offerings to more than 100 store locations and online at Sears.com. The departments will include new fixtures in a dedicated space, giving consumers access to mass-market brands at the mall. The new cosmetic departments will include products from such brands as L’Oréal, Revlon, CoverGirl and Maybelline. The departments also will feature nail care from Sally Hansen, Nicole by OPI and Essie, as well as an assortment of skin care and fragrances. Beauty advisers will staff the departments to offer makeup tips and advice.
