OPI to launch Euro Centrale collection for spring/summer 2013

BY Antoinette Alexander

NEW YORK — Classic meets contemporary with Euro Centrale by OPI for spring/summer 2013. Celebrating a region where history meets modern design, the collection’s 12 new nail lacquers offer a mixture of metallic hues; bright shades in periwinkle, aqua and pink; and blues in indigo, midnight and aubergine.

“Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Romania make up an exciting new fashion hotspot,” explained Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “When visiting these countries, you’ll view Gothic churches alongside vibrant graffiti murals, blending two very different aesthetics. This fusion of old and new was also seen in runway looks during New York Fashion Week, where classic styles were reinvented with modern silhouettes and patterns.

“Euro Centrale boasts a wide variety of shades, ranging from pale nude to deep blue – and featuring everything from shimmering copper to aqua in between,” continued Weiss-Fischmann. “Whether you’re looking to spice up a black and white print, or add neutrality to a vivid brocade, these lacquers are designed to accessorize spring’s hottest looks.”

Euro Centrale by OPI includes the following shades:

Polka.com: Blue and violet are dancing partners in this glittery combo;

OPI…Eurso Euro: This deep blue cream is very continental;

Suzi’s Hungary AGAIN!: A warm pink;

You’re Such a BudaPest: A periwinkle-purple;

Can’t Find My Czechbook: An aqua;

My Paprika is Hotter than Yours!: A fiery red;

Hands Off My Kielbasa!: A bronzy tan;

OY–Another Polish Joke!: A shimmery-gold;

A Woman’s Prague-ative: A shimmery copper;

Vant to Bite My Neck?: A deep eggplant;

I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw: A deep midnight blue; and

My Vampire is Buff: Creamy, pale and nude.

Euro Centrale collection nail lacquer shades contain no DBP, toluene, or formaldehyde, and each includes OPI’s exclusive ProWide brush for the ultimate in application.

Euro Centrale by OPI will be available in February at salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and Ulta Beauty for $9 each.

Rite Aid gives customers head start on Black Friday shopping

BY Alaric DeArment

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid is offering Black Friday discounts early at its stores this year.

The retail pharmacy chain said it would open its stores from at least 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and emailing Black Friday survival guides with shopping tips and savings to customers. The National Retail Federation predicts that 71 million shoppers will visit retailers over Black Friday weekend.

The guides contain tips such as staying hydrated and energized, offering deals on Gatorade, bottled water, Red Bull and healthy snacks. The company is sending the guides along with an exclusive preview of the chain’s regular Black Friday promotion, which offers deals for members of the Wellness+ loyalty program. Discounts this year include gifts such as children’s toys, video game consoles that play Atari and Sega Genesis games, beauty sets and men’s grooming products.

"Rite Aid has long been a Black Friday destination because our convenient locations and extended holiday hours give weary shoppers a chance to refuel and refresh on their marathon shopping quests and a break from crowded mall and big-box store parking lots," Rite Aid EVP merchandising Tony Montini said. "This year, we’ve also taken care to select some of the hottest items spanning the major gift categories to help weekend shoppers cross a few names off their lists."
