O-I names SVP, chief commercial officer
PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Glass packaging maker Owens-Illinois has appointed a new SVP and chief commercial officer, O-I said Tuesday.
Tony Gardner, who will lead O-I’s global sales, marketing, pricing and product innovation initiatives, brings more than 20 years of business leadership experience to O-I. Prior to his new position, Gardner worked at Accenture for five years, where he worked with many of the world’s largest consumer packaged goods companies and their suppliers.
Gardner succeeds Erasmo Schutzer, the company’s former SVP and chief marketing officer, who left the company in August.
Tostitos hosts football-themed event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters
PLANO, Texas — Tostitos is hosting what the brand calls a "party with a purpose" on Dec. 16.
The chips brand will host "Tostitos Fiesta in the Square," a football-themed part designed to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters that will be held in New York’s Times Square. On hand at this year’s event will be such former college and professional football legends as Jim Kelly, Rodney Peete, Antonio Pierce, Martin and Bill Gramatica, and Eddie George, who will offer tips and coach fans as they take turns attempting successful field goal kicks. Additionally, recording artist, television personality and Big Brother Nick Lachey will serve as the official host for the Tostitos Fiesta in the Square.
Highlights from the event will be shared during the nationwide broadcast of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on ESPN on Jan. 2, 2012.
"The Tostitos brand believes in being social and making any occasion a party, and this time we’re partying for a purpose by partnering with an organization that shares our passion for bringing people together," Tostitos VP marketing Justin Lambeth said. "Through the Tostitos Fiesta in the Square, we are celebrating mentorship and showcasing the link between great social skills and successful mentoring relationships with the hope that many of the participants will be moved to get involved with Big Brother Big Sisters."
Budweiser gets ready for its close-up with social reality show on ABC
BRUSSELS — Budweiser is getting into show business with the launch of a new social reality show that will debut on ABC.
"Bud United presents: The Big Time," which will debut in January 2012, will feature young adults from across the world fulfilling their dreams. Through casting videos submitted over the summer via Budweiser’s social media sites, young adult fans showcased their own stories to demonstrate their passions in such areas as basketball, baseball, soccer, racing, music, acting and cooking. Fans then were chosen to be featured in seven different episodes — with each one focusing on a set of three fans competing for their shot at their dream, while being coached and mentored by celebrities and professionals, Budweiser said.
"We are particularly proud to take Budweiser to new levels, by turning current assets into branded content, brought to life with unique and exciting storytelling," Budweiser global VP Budweiser Jason Warner said.
