Nordic Naturals to exclusively sell Ultimate Omega Sport at GNC

BY Michael Johnsen

WATSONVILLE, Calif. Nordic Naturals on Wednesday announced the launch of its new Ultimate Omega Sport formulation on an exclusive basis through GNC for one year.

Ultimate Omega Sport has been certified as part of the NSF Certified for Sports program, also known as the Athletic Banned Substances program, which provides certified products with an approved symbol on the packaging, which seeks to minimize the risk that a dietary supplement or sports nutrition product contains a substance banned by one of the major sports organizations. The certification program’s testing and certification process ensures that the product fully complies with current NSF standards and that athletes can supplement with Nordic Naturals’ Ultimate Omega Sport fish oil without concern of consuming banned or prohibited substances or their metabolites.

Fungi-Nail pen brush applicator drives up Kramer’s sales

BY Michael Johnsen

MIAMI Kramer Consumer Healthcare recently pegged its first-half sales increases of 38% this year on the success of its Fungi-Nail pen brush applicator launch.

According to Clarissa Sanchez, Fungi-Nail product manager, the new pen brush applicator is outselling Kramer’s 1 oz. SKU by almost two to one in accounts with distribution.

“What has impressed us most is that there has been no cannibalization — our 1 oz. SKU has exhibited strong growth at the same time the pen sales have exploded,” Sanchez said. “What has impressed our retail partners is that their specialty nail fungus segment growth is exploding behind the pen.”

According to Sanchez, one national drug chain grew its sales in the specialty footcare category by more than 40% in dollar sales in the two months following the pen’s launch.
