New SoloHealth kiosks to use latest Intel technology

NEW YORK — The next generation of health kiosks made by SoloHealth will use the latest technologies from Intel, the company said.

The SoloHealth Station — which measures blood pressure, vision, weight and body mass index — will use an Intel Core i5 processor-based computer and deliver an interactive, secure and networked experience for consumers. It also will allow easy repairs and adjustments that can be made from one centralized computer.

SoloHealth developed the SoloHealth Station, currently in a test program with an unspecified nationwide retailer, under a partnership with Intel.

The company, which will be at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ Pharmacy & Technology Conference in Boston starting Saturday, said it also was in talks with drug, mass merchandise and grocery chains around the country, as well as healthcare providers and businesses, to deploy the SoloHealth Station at more locations.

Novo Nordisk to build new corporate HQ

BAGSVÆRD, Denmark — Novo Nordisk is investing 1 billion Danish kroner ($193.9 million) into two new office buildings in Bagsværd, Denmark.

The drug maker said the new premises will house Novo Nordisk’s top management, 1,100 administrative employees and a number of shared facilities.

“Although Novo Nordisk is primarily set to grow outside of Denmark in the coming years, we are looking forward to consolidating the administrative functions in Bagsværd, where we have been present since the 1950s,” Novo Nordisk president and CEO Lars Rebien Sørensen said. “The new buildings will give our employees the best conditions for interacting across functional divides and with our colleagues abroad.”

H. D. Smith names Ed Bissler corporate VP sales

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — H. D. Smith on Thursday named Ed Bissler corporate VP sales. Bissler comes to H. D. Smith from McKesson, where he most recently directed the strategic sales and service functions for many of that company’s national accounts.

In his new role at H. D. Smith, Bissler will be responsible for overseeing the company’s overall sales function and implementing the strategic direction of the sales team as H. D. Smith targets new growth sectors.

“Senior-level sales leadership is more than simply overseeing the day-to-day function of a sales team or landing a large account," stated Chris Smith, H. D. Smith COO. "Sales leadership requires equipping the entire sales organization with the tools and knowledge to pair our solutions with our customers’ challenges. Ed’s proven strategic approach to sales allows him to lead the charge in extending H. D. Smith’s customer-centric values to an increasing number of retail and institutional community pharmacies."

Prior to joining H. D. Smith, Bissler served as VP strategic solutions in retail national accounts at McKesson. In that position, he ensured the retention and customer satisfaction of some of McKesson’s largest pharmacy customers. Before his role in national accounts, Bissler served in positions of increasing responsibility at McKesson, beginning as a hospital account manager and working his way up to a regional manager role.

Bissler earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Kent State University.  He is trained as a Six Sigma Greenbelt.
