SymphonyIRI taps former P&G exec to lead retail solutions
CHICAGO — Market research firm SymphonyIRI Group has named former Procter & Gamble executive Beverly Grant as president of Retail Solutions.
She will report to Mark Parise, president of IRI, SymphonyIRI.

Before joining SymphonyIRI, Grant spent 26 years at P&G in various roles, including VP, GM and chief channel officer for the North America Grocery Channel; and global business director of Beauty, Market Strategy and Planning, Food, Beverage and Pet Nutrition.
Most recently, she led P&G’s $8.5 billion retail grocery business.. Prior to P&G, Grant also gained experience in the food and beverage channel at Kroger, as well as in the healthcare, oral care and beauty categories.

Bartell’s donates eyeglasses to developing countries
SEATTLE — A regional retail pharmacy chain is donating nearly 20,000 pairs of eyeglasses to poor communities around the world.
Bartell Drugs, which operates 58 stores in the Seattle metropolitan area, is donating more than 19,500 pairs of glasses to Medical Teams International, which will distribute them to impoverished communities in Africa, Central America, Southeast Asia, Central Asia and the Balkans. The glasses are from the retail pharmacy chain’s back product inventory and will be donated instead of being returned to Foster Grant, the eyewear manufacturer with which Bartell’s has a long-standing vendor relationship.
