MorningStar Farms launches five new veggie bowls

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — MorningStar Farms is looking to appeal to the modern consumer with five new, 100% vegetarian heat-and-eat veggie bowls with globally inspired spices and flavors. 

The line offers internationally-inspired varieties, as well as unique twists on classic favorites, such as Chik'n pot pie with a creamy wine and herb sauce, an Italian veggie sausage bake with creamy béchamel and tomato basil sauces, and vegan Japanese soba noodles with a zesty soy ginger garlic sauce.

"Our new protein-packed veggie bowls combine a blend of flavorful ingredients and seasoning with superior taste and texture," said Todd Smith, director of brand and innovation marketing at MorningStar Farms. "We know that more and more people are looking for convenient and nutritious meal options, including tasty alternatives to meat. That's why we're excited to debut our latest line-up of tasty, veggie-full products that are not just good for you, but that are also good for the planet."

The full collection of new bowl flavors include:

  • MorningStar Farms Japanese Soba Noodles
  • MorningStar Farms Moroccan Medley
  • MorningStar Farms Chik'n Tikka Masala
  • MorningStar Farms Italian Sausage Bake
  • MorningStar Farms Chik'n Pot Pie

These five new flavors join the existing lineup of MorningStar Farms veggie bowls, which was first introduced in spring 2016 and includes Tuscan Greens & Beans, Spicy Black Bean Enchilada, Thai Yellow Curry, and Mushroom & Asparagus Orzo.

The MorningStar Farms veggie bowls are sold at retailers nationwide.

Blount Fine Foods debuts new line of organic soups

FALL RIVER, Mass. — A market leader in fresh retail soups is launching a collection of branded premium organic soups under a new label.

Blount Fine Foods is launching the collection under the new Blount Organic label.

"As the popularity of prepared foods grows rapidly at retail, we have seen the call for organics grow from a rumble to a roar," said Bob Sewall, Blount's EVP of sales and marketing.  "Our master chefs have been working to refine our true-to-nature, delicious handcrafted organic recipes; collaborating with certified organic farmers to produce premium organic soups. We can't wait for consumers to try these incredible flavors under our new Blount Organic brand name."

Blount Organic will feature eight varieties:
• Organic Vegetarian Chili (gluten-free, vegetarian)
• Organic Tomato Bisque (gluten-free, vegetarian)
• Organic Coconut Lentil Soup (gluten-free, vegetarian)
• Organic Ancient Grain Minestrone Soup (vegan)
• Organic Savory Harvest Bisque (vegetarian)
• Organic Broccoli Cheddar Soup (gluten-free)
• Organic Chicken Tortilla Soup (gluten-free, chicken used is raised without antibiotics)
• Organic Chicken Noodle (chicken used is raised without antibiotics) – coming in November

Each microwavable cup holds 16 ounces and features Blount's signature Cool Grip Rim which makes the cups easy to handle after heating. 

The Blount Organic line is available at select Target, Publix, Giant Eagle, Earth Fare, Heinen's and other retailers nationwide.

New Nesquik drinks target fitness fans who are young at heart

GLENDALE, Calif. — One of America's most popular drink brands for kids is launching a new product line for adults young at heart who love the taste of chocolate milk, but want more protein in their daily diets.

Nesquik's new Protein Plus is packed with 23 grams of protein and delivers the Nesquik taste along with a heightened nutritional profile.

Available in two flavors – chocolate and vanilla – Protein Plus contains 23g of protein in each 14 oz. bottle. It is made with real milk from cows not treated with the added growth hormone rBST and contains 28 percent less sugar than the leading protein-enhanced flavored milk.

Protein Plus is available at retailers nationwide in 14 oz. pre-mixed, ready-to-drink bottles.
