Mirixa, PDX to integrate MTM, automation platforms
FORT WORTH, Texas — Mirixa Corp. will integrate its web-based medication therapy management platform with PDX’s pharmacy-automation system, under a deal between the two companies.
Mirixa and PDX said the deal would integrate MirixaPro with the PDX Classic Pharmacy System and the PDX Enterprise Pharmacy System.
"As the CMS Five-Star Quality Rating system becomes effective next year, pharmacies know it’s more important than ever to continue to improve patient outcomes," PDX CEO Jeff Farris said. "Our relationship with Mirixa will increase the speed-to-market of an MTM solution our pharmacies need today to help them promote compliance and adherence."
Two new TGI Fridays baked snacks hit store shelves
PHOENIX — Inventure Foods Inc. introduced two new baked snacks under its licensed partnership with TGI Fridays, the company announced today. Extreme Heat Crunchy Fries and Jalapeno Poppers Snack Sticks add to the line of snacks inspired by the bar and casual dining restaurant menu.
Both snacks will begin to appear in stores nationwide this summer. The Extreme Heat Crunchy Fries will be sold in 1.5, 2.5 and 4.5-ounce bags with suggested retail prices of $1.00, $1.99 and $2.49, respectively; Jalapeno Poppers Snack Sticks will be available in 1.25, 2.25 and 3.5-ounce bags with suggested retail prices of $1.00, $1.99 and $2.49, respectively.
"It’s been a pleasure witnessing the growth of the TGI Fridays snack line over the years," said Steve Sklar, senior vice president marketing for Phoenix-based Inventure Foods Inc. "With the addition of these new snacks, we’re not only offering the distinctive tastes consumers have grown to love from the brand, but we’ve rounded out the offerings by providing the extreme flavors consumers crave."
Since the brand crossed over to the snack chip aisle in 2000, the TGI Fridays snack line has become a consumer favorite in grocery, vending and convenience channels, providing snack options that parallel the flavor combinations on Fridays’ menus, the company stated. These new flavors join such staples as the Cheddar & Bacon Potato Skins, Mozzarella Sticks and Onion Rings.

Giant-Carlisle launches prescription-savings card
CARLISLE, Pa. – Supermarket operator Ahold USA has completed rolling out prescription-savings cards at the chains it operates with the introduction of the cards in Giant Food Stores.
Carlisle, Pa.-based Giant Food Stores and Martin’s Food Markets, together often called Giant-Carlisle to distinguish them from fellow Ahold chain Giant Food of Landover, Md., announced the launch of the Giant/Martin’s Prescription Savings Card. The card offers discounts for prescriptions and personalized savings on health-related products from the store. Giant-Landover and Stop & Shop introduced the cards at the end of last month.
"With the launch of the Giant/Martin’s Prescription Savings Card, customers can now save on both brand-name and generic prescriptions, in addition to other savings on health and wellness-related products," Giant-Carlisle director of pharmacy operations Leigh Shirley said. "This is just another way we are able to provide our customers with extra savings when they shop."
Like the other cards, the Giant-Carlisle card allows customers to obtain 30-day supplies of some generic drugs for $3.99 and 90-day supplies for $9.99, as well as savings on flu shots and diabetes testing supplies. The card can also be used at Giant-Landover and Stop & Shop, with exception to stores in New Jersey.
