MillerCoors to launch Smith & Forge hard cider

CHICAGO — MillerCoors on Tuesday announced that a new hard cider, Smith & Forge, will be launched nationally this month. The beverage contains 6% alcohol by volume and features a distinct taste and crisp finish, the company said.

"There was a time when more hard cider was consumed in America than beer. Now hard cider is exploding again, but the sweetness of many current ciders can be a turn off to beer drinkers, and some of them are looking instead to spirits and crafts for variety," said David Kroll, MillerCoors VP insights and innovation. "Smith & Forge is a strong, just-sweet-enough hard cider that encourages guys to discover — or rediscover — the world of hard cider."

Smith & Forge Hard Cider is available in a 16-oz. single-serve and 4-pack cans, as well as 12-pack 12-oz. cans. MillerCoors will support Smith & Forge with a national marketing campaign, which includes multichannel activations with such media partners as ESPN, Discovery Channel and Comedy Central.

Snack Factory expands flavor options, adds product

PRINCETON, N.J. — Snack Factory Pretzel Crisp recently introduced two new flavors, as well as a new product line. The new flavor options include Honey Mustard & Onion and Sea Salt & Crack Pepper, and the new product comes in the form of a "mini" version of its Original and Cheddar flavors, which the company says was inspired by consumer demand for bite-size snacks.

“Each year we continue to track trends and test a variety of flavors for the most versatile pretzel product on the market,” said Valerie Traynor, VP marketing at Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps. “Our newest Deli Style flavors embody the penchants of today’s snacker, and our new Minis are sure to be a hit with family members of all ages.” 

Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps are 110 calories per serving and can be found in the deli section of retailers nationwide.

Bud Light Lime Ritas adds two flavors

ST. LOUIS — The Bud Light Lime Ritas brand will welcome two new flavors, Mang-O-Rita and Raz-Ber-Rita, to its lineup. The new Ritas join the Bud Light Lime Lime-A-Rita, Straw-Ber-Rita and the limited-time seasonal Cran-Brrr-Rita. The brand says it hopes to see continued success with the new additions.

"Lime-A-Rita and Straw-Ber-Rita are two of our most successful innovations to-date. They allowed us to introduce the Bud Light brand into occasions it hadn’t traditionally played in," said Rob McCarthy, VP of Bud Light. "We anticipate Raz-Ber-Rita and Mang-O-Rita to continue extending the brand successfully into the popular margarita space. With four permanent Rita flavors to choose from, and our new convenient mixed pack featuring them all, we’re excited to see consumers experiment and create their own ‘Mix-A-Rita’ combinations."

Mang-O-Rita and Raz-Ber-Rita are available in three pack sizes: 12-pack 8-oz. cans; four-pack 16-oz. cans and 24-oz. individual cans. The Ritas also are available in a Mix-A-Rita 18-pack, which consists of six Lime-A-Ritas, four Straw-Ber-Ritas, four Mang-O-Ritas and four Raz-Ber-Ritas.
