Mexican actress, recording artist Sandra Echeverria to be the new face of Neutrogena

LOS ANGELES — Neutrogena has announced that Mexican actress and recording artist Sandra Echeverria has signed on as its newest U.S. brand ambassador. 

"We’re excited to have an international talent like Sandra join our family to help further bring to life our 2012 multicultural initiatives," stated Susan Sweet, GM for Neutrogena. "She is an inspirational role model to so many women and a fan of so many of Neutrogena’s products. Sandra exemplifies the Neutrogena spirit, and we are thrilled to have her join our family of ambassadors."

She joins fellow beauty icons Miranda Cosgrove, Jennifer Garner, Vanessa Hudgens, Diane Lane, Hayden Panettiere, Emma Roberts and Gabrielle Union as the latest member of the Neutrogena family.

The internationally recognized actress, singer and songwriter recently starred in the telenovela “La Fuerza del Destino” ("Destiny’s Strength"), which aired on the Univision Network. She’s also participated in various top-rated telenovelas, airing in hundreds of countries.

Echeverria can next be seen in Will Ferrell’s new film “Casa de mi Padre” ("My Father’s Home"). She also completed shooting "Savages," an Oliver Stone film — starring John Travolta, Blake Lively, Uma Thurman and Benicio Del Toro — in which she plays Salma Hayek’s daughter.

In addition, Echeverria released her first single, which is the title song from her hit telenovela "La Fuerza Del Destino" and a duet with Marc Anthony. It can be heard on the radio and is rising up the charts in the United States, Mexico and Latin America.

Coty Prestige, Balenciaga name Kristen Stewart the new face of Balenciaga fragrance

PARIS — Actress Kristen Stewart will be the face of the newest Balenciaga fragrance for women to be revealed in fall 2012. Kristen Stewart follows Charlotte Gainsbourg who has represented Balenciaga Paris, the first fragrance, since 2010.

The fragrance is part of the Coty Prestige brand portfolio.

“Kristen Stewart stood out as an evident choice for this new fragrance. She has a unique sense of style — quite original and chic in the way she mixes fashion elements. Her elegant modernity and innate rebel style perfectly match with the spirit of Balenciaga,” stated Catherine Walsh, SVP American fragrances for Coty Prestige, a division of Coty Inc.

GMDC to expand its ‘365 Days of Value’ program

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Global Market Development Center on Tuesday announced that it is expanding its “365 Days of Value” program through its advisory boards to support members throughout the year.

This program is an assembly of strategic partners who provide business services to both retailer/wholesaler and supplier members of GMDC. The portfolio of services includes product category and sales recap reports; an online membership directory; natural and specialty product sales data; product recall processing; logistics and sourcing solutions; online training; and a variety of other solutions that serve the needs of GMDC members. 

This program is set to expand in a dramatic way in 2012, GMDC stated, noting the association has formed a separate committee to solicit and evaluate new solutions partners. This committee is made up of retailer, wholesaler and supplier members who have established protocols for identifying and appraising service and solution providers that best fit GMDC and its membership. A number of new partners have been identified and are scheduled to attend the June 1 to 5, 2012, General Merchandise conference being held in Orlando, Fla. as well as the Sept. 21 to 24, 2012, Health Beauty Wellness conference in San Antonio.

“The value of being a member of GMDC has always extended far beyond the conferences,” stated Bill Anderson, group VP drug store, beauty, GM, floral and services. “The ‘365 Days of Value’ initiative is a great example of how GMDC demonstrates its worth throughout the year. We’ve tasked the staff and advisory boards to continue to look for additional service and solution providers who can bring incremental value to both sides of our membership.”
