Luna launches new nutrient bar for women

EMERYVILLE, Calif. — Luna, maker of the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, today introduced Luna Carrot Cake, the newest offering in the line of snacks with select essential nutrients for women. Luna Carrot Cake is a cinnamon-spiced bar with carrots, walnuts, white soy chips and sweet raisins drizzled with vanilla icing.

“We’re championing the idea that you can have your cake, and eat it too,” said Tara DelloIacono-Thies, Registered Dietitian and manager of nutrition strategy for Luna. “We want women to honor cravings in a healthy way, such as indulging a little bit now rather than going overboard later.”

Like all Luna products, Luna Carrot Cake includes the Core 4 vitamins and minerals: calcium, folic acid, iron and vitamin D. It has 180 calories, 8 g of protein, is a good source of fiber and contains 70% organic ingredients.

Luna Carrot Cake is now shipping nationwide and will roll out on store shelves throughout April. It carries a suggested retail price of $1.39.

Hawaiian Tropic starts search for new spokeswoman

SHELTON, Conn. — Hawaiian Tropic has retired its Miss Hawaiian Tropic Bikini Contests and is looking for a woman who will serve as the "new face" of the brand, which is owned by Energizer Personal Care, a division of Energizer Holdings.

The brand, which has introduced new formulas and packaging, is launching the contest through Facebook, and the winner will become its new spokeswoman. The contest takes place from May 6 through May 31.

"The modern Hawaiian Tropic woman still loves to spend time in the sun, but also understands the importance of skin care in helping to keep her skin healthy," Hawaiian Tropic brand manager Danielle Duncan said. "We’re looking for a new face of the brand who captures that sensibility and shares the Hawaiian Tropic philosophy that broad-spectrum sun protection can be as luxurious and pampering as any other beauty product."

Inergetics to distribute brands through Hy-Vee

NEWARK, N.J. — Inergetics will distribute its Bikini Ready Weight Loss Lifestyle and SlimTrim diet brands through a Midwestern supermarket-pharmacy chain, the company said Tuesday.

Inergetics said the products had gained initial distribution with Hy-Vee, based in West Des Moines, Iowa.

The company said it hoped to increase distribution with Hy-Vee in the near term.
