Life is good, J.M. Smucker announce premium coffee product

BOSTON & ORRVILLE, Ohio — A collaboration between Life is good Co. and J.M. Smucker Co. will bring a line of coffee products to retail shelves throughout North America.

Life is good coffee will be available beginning in late summer 2013. Products will include Light Hearted, a light roast ground coffee; Happy Medium, a medium roast ground coffee; Dark & Daring, a dark roast ground coffee; S’more to Love, a s’more flavored ground coffee; and Banana Bread Bliss, a banana bread flavored ground coffee. All products are UTZ Certified, a program promoting sustainable farming and better opportunities for farmers, their families and our planet.

“Through our new line of coffee with Smucker’s we’ll be able to spread the power of optimism and help kids in need,” said Bert Jacobs, chief executive optimist at Life is good. “We are grateful to partner with the timeless brand and outstanding team at The J.M. Smucker Company.”

Life is good is a lifestyle brand committed to spreading the power of optimism and helping kids in need by donating 10% of its net profits to The Life is good Kids Foundation. This is the second partnership in Life is good’s Best-In-Class (BIC) business unit, which is designed to extend the Life is good brand through partners who are the leaders in their existing product categories.

Reports: Hy-Vee pilots composting program

NEW YORK — Two Hy-Vee stores in Iowa will start composting food waste, produce and floral trimmings, according to published reports.

The Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gazette reported that Hy-Vee stores in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids had partnered with Des Moines, Iowa-based organics recycler Green RU, which will pick up the waste from the stores and haul it to nearby compost centers. The newspaper reported that the company was considering whether to expand the pilot program throughout the chain.

The company will continue donating edible food to shelters, food banks and food rescues, while the composting program will focus on expired food and inedible material like floral trimmings.

Kiosk supplier Stayhealthy selects software provider to enable rapid content deployment

MONTREAL — Stayhealthy on Tuesday announced the selection of BroadSign International as the company’s digital signage software provider as it deploys its network of HealthCenter kiosks across the United States. BroadSign will manage Stayhealthy’s rapid content deployment and network operations. 

The move supports Stayhealthy’s deployment of approximately 2,000 kiosks through Kroger grocery stores where the self-service, health screening kiosks are stationed in waiting areas of in-store pharmacies. The plug-and-play kiosks enable consumers to measure key health indicators including blood pressure, heart rate, total body weight, total body composition (lean mass, body fat, hydration index), vision (color blindness) and BMI. Consumers may also upload personal blood glucose meter and activity monitor data to track their personal results over time to assist in improving health. 

Stayhealthy’s new generation of health screening connect with Class II medical devices and digital activity monitors united by a secure, HIPAA-compliant online portal installed in more than 3,000 professional, medical offices involved in wellness and weight loss programs around the world, the company noted.
