Kroger executive recipient of YWCA Career Woman of Achievement honor

BY Michael Johnsen

CINCINNATI — Kroger on Thursday publicly congratulated Kathleen Barclay, corporate officer and SVP human resources, for her recognition as a YWCA Career Woman of Achievement. Barclay was honored along with eight other women at YWCA’s annual event.

"I am honored and humbled to receive this recognition from the YWCA, a truly exceptional organization in Cincinnati and across the country," Barclay said. "I am grateful to work in an industry that provides the incredible opportunity to touch the lives of a very large group of women inside and outside our company, each and every day."

Barclay serves as chair of the board of the National Academy of Human Resources and as a board member of the Human Resource Policy Association. In Cincinnati, she serves on the United Way Women’s Leadership Council and as a board member of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

The YWCA Salute to Career Women of Achievement was established in 1980 to increase community awareness and appreciation of the diverse contributions of women in the work force and in the community. The luncheon has evolved into the YWCA’s largest fundraising event, sponsored by 150 companies and organizations each year.  All proceeds directly benefit YWCA programs.

Several Kroger executives are previous recipients of this YWCA recognition, including Marnette Perry, SVP strategic initiatives and operations; Lynn Marmer, group VP corporate affairs; and Kathy Kelly, president of Kroger personal finance.

Supervalu refinances $1.5 billion senior secured term loan agreement

BY Michael Johnsen

MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu on Thursday successfully completed the refinancing of its existing $1.5 billion senior secured term loan agreement. The amendment reduces the interest rate margin from 5% to 4% and reduces the LIBOR floor from 1.25% to 1% for LIBOR based loans.

The amendment also expands the ability to increase the term loan, subject to a secured leverage test, by up to $500 million. The maturity date of the term loan remains March 2019. Since the term loan was refinanced within the first year of its inception, the company paid the existing term loan lenders a 1% refinancing premium per the terms of the loan agreement.

Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs Bank USA acted as joint lead book-runners and joint lead arrangers while Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Barclays acted as co-managers on the amendment.
