Hurst named state government relations manager at NPA
WASHINGTON The Natural Products Association on Thursday announced that Elizabeth Hurst has been named to the newly created position of state government relations manager, under the association’s global government and scientific affairs department.
In her new capacity, Hurst will be monitoring state and local policy proposals that can affect the natural products industry, and will be working with NPA regions on an effective response.
“The most important role of our organizations is advocacy. Bad ideas that are enacted in one state can spread to others,” stated John Gay, NPA executive director and CEO. “[Hurst] will be addressing that threat in her new position, making both the regional NPAs and the national organization even better-positioned to represent our members.”
Prior to joining NPA, Hurst was a senior government relations specialist with the National Court Reporters Association, where she identified and tracked legislation that impacted the association’s members, managed the association’s PAC and fundraisers, and produced educational publications and other materials. She also worked for Denny Miller Associates, a lobbying firm, and served as an intern for Senator Saxby Chambliss of Georgia.
Hurst received her B.A. in political science from the University of Pennsylvania.
